Yarn Block Painting

In Art Club today, students made stamps out of blocks of Balsa wood and yarn.  We wrapped the wood block in a long piece of yarn, taped it down, and stamped it into the paint and on our paper.  Yes, it was a bit noisy, but I think they enjoyed it and their paintings express the high amounts of energy in a room full of 7 year-olds!

  1. These are great and look like so much fun to make! The middle piece looks like fireworks. This would make a cool background for some idea as well. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Very cool. I love stuff like this; experiential, open-ended. Very cool.

  3. I mean who would have thought of painting and creating texture this way! Wow! I love! I can tell by the artwork Brooke brings home that you are a very creative person. I have saved several of her things to frame and use for artwork at home. Why buy art for home when you can frame the wonderful things they make and bring home. Kudos to you!!!
