It's that time of year...when the pumpkins and turkeys are sent home and the winter art takes center stage! I wanted to do a quick one-day lesson with my 5th and 6th graders using chalk pastels and repeated lines to create an abstract landscape. I think I should have spent more time on color temperatures and what colors would BEST represent snow...before letting them loose on this project. Here are two examples of student work depicting (almost) exactly what we were going for.
Very nice. I like the range of colors. What medium was used for the snowflakes? Looks like tempera paint . . .
